E-Learning & Online Teaching Education
I originally started taking classes and getting experience in developing online (multimedia) products back in 1998. Five years later I returned to school to get my M.S.Ed. in Adult & Higher Education (Northern Illinois University, 2005) and immediately followed that up that with ETT 439 Developing Educational Software. Starting in 2012, my formal education in e-learning has been with the Graduate Certificate in E-Learning and Online Teaching program at the University of Wisconsin-Stout:
The use of the Internet to deliver education and training in fully online or web-enhanced formats is growing at a tremendous rate in all sectors of our society. An increasing number of K-12 schools and post-secondary institutions are using web-based technologies to facilitate learning, particularly at the secondary and post-secondary levels. Consequently, there is a growing need for highly skilled online distance educators to support online teaching and training across the nation and around the world. At the completion of the graduate certificate program candidates will demonstrate the knowledge and skills to effectively teach or train online and serve as leaders in distance learning initiatives. This program consisted of five graduate-level courses (three semester hours each). The courses included:
