My education in Instructional Design started in 1998, though not part of a formal program. These were courses I chose to take to support my Technical Writing career. Some of these courses I found at a community college, a university when I was pursuing my M.S.Ed. Adult & Higher Education, and others through my employer (online courses):
In 2011, I started and completed the Graduate Certificate in Instructional Design program at the University of Wisconsin-Stout:
Instructional design is the art and science of creating instruction for learners in a systematic manner that leads to maximum knowledge transfer. The graduate-level Instructional Design professional development certificate provides students with the skills, knowledge, and abilities necessary to design effective, technology enhanced instruction, select appropriate instructional strategies, develop computer mediated training, and manage instructional development projects. (UW-Stout Graduate Bulletin, 2011)
